Mullien

Let's talk, Mullien. This very much wild plant was a staple herb to have on hand for the native Americans because of its wide array of medicinal uses. The most common use of this herb in modern times is to help treat cough, congestion, bronchitis, and asthma. The reason for this is because it has 4 active compounds, saponins, flavonoids, phenylethanoids, and iridoids, which all have anti-inflammatory properties.
There are a host of other things that mullien can be used for, but the most effective in my practice of using the plant is for anything respiratory. The reason for this is that when the active compounds present themselves to mucus membranes, they will relieve them of the irritation just like an expertorant. When I use it in a tea, the effects of clearing up a pesky cough have been the best way to help alleviate it to clear out the mucus. I use it in a tea along with goldenrod and st. John's wort to help with my seasonal allergies with amazing results.
